Assistant Manager, HR
This position provides human resources consultation and support to designated business areas by providing critical knowledge and expertise in support of the organization. The successful person will partner with the business unit(s), providing coaching and insight across the human resources functions while working collaboratively with business units in the strategic planning process and development of human resources strategies that support the department initiatives. In specific, the duties and responsibilities of this position will include:
•Supports assigned business units and shares knowledge of a variety of HR concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks using a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
•Contributes to the business strategy by helping business leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, structures and processes
•Provides day to day performance management guidance and training to management (coaching, counseling, talent planning, disciplinary action, investigation and maintaining a union free workplace)
•Consults with management and provide HR policy guidance and interpretation; facilitate resolution of complex employee relations issues; ensures effective, thorough and objective investigations.
•Maintains knowledge of legal requirements related to management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
•Works closely with management and employees to provide expert advice and coaching to improve work relationships, build engagement, and increase productivity and retention while maintaining and supporting safe working conditions.
•Supports managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirements in line with the business strategy
•Acts as consultative and business support team member to the Generalist and HR Team and their Business Units or Retail Stores as needed.
This position has the responsibility to make day to day decisions within the scope of human resources as well as advise and assist senior management on significant issues outside of this scope. This position is exposed to confidential information related to human resources, payroll information and strategic initiatives as undertaken by the Company.
•Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related discipline and/or equivalent experience is required
•Minimum 5 yrs exp as a generalist or manager of people with responsibility for HR practices (such as administration of policy, discipline, development etc.) preferably in a supply chain or multi-location environment highly desirable
•Proven ability to manage multiple business units & solid understanding of local, state & federal laws governing employment
•Demonstrated people management, coaching, communication, conflict resolution and influencing skills
•The ability to foster relationships while developing trust and collaboration in order to gain support and achieve results
•Pro-active and self-directed, with the ability to anticipate business needs and provide insight and recommendations
•Ability to interact with all levels, from entry-level to executive level, with the savvy to manage conflicting priorities
•Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with strong computer proficiency (MS Office suite). HRIS a plus.
•Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality a must.
