Health Professions Asst.
The Amherst College Career Center seeks a part-time Health Professions Assistant to provide administrative support for the Health Professions Advisor and Health Professions Committee. The position is year round, working 20 hours per week with pro-rated benefits. Duties include performing administrative tasks related to students’ applications for medical school and other health professions graduate programs; and working with students and faculty to assemble letters of recommendation and other materials to complete applications. Additional duties include: conduct brief intake interviews; coordinate faculty committee meetings; provide information to graduate programs, applicants, and faculty committees; create, analyze and maintain electronic records.
Minimum qualifications: High school plus additional specialized training and 1-3 years secretarial experience, Bachelor’s degree and 3 years secretarial experience preferred; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet. This position requires sensitivity to issues of confidentiality, attention to detail, strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, require limited supervision and will be able to communicate effectively interact professionally with individuals both inside and outside the College.
