About the position
Direct Support staff provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders in community, volunteer, and vocational settings. Staff are provided with comprehensive on-line and on-the-job training upon hire and on an on-going basis.
The Individual Day Services (IDS) program supports and enables adults to be contributing independent member of their community, to determine safe and healthy life choices, and to establish meaningful relationships with peers, family and friends.
This current opening is in Manchester, NH, first shift.
Great opportunity for per diem hours.
Essential skills and responsibilities:
•Support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in community, volunteer and vocational settings
•Communicate, teach and model socially appropriate behavior
•Transport clients to and from the program
•Provide crisis intervention and redirection
•Record documentation
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
•High school degree or equivalent
•Criminal, motor vehicle, and Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services background checks that meet agency standards
•Provide adequate transportation for clients, which includes having access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license and maintaining personal auto insurance of $100,000/300,000
•Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently; daily documentation is required
Ideal Qualifications:
•Experience providing direct support or personal care
•College of Direct Support certificate
•Comfort using basic technologies such as desktop computers and Microsoft Office
•Proven ability to adapt to changing environments, from emotionally charged situations to highly structured professional settings
