Position Description:
| The Leonard Florence Center for Living (LFCL), located on Admiral's Hill, Chelsea, MA is seeking a candidate for the following position: Recreational Therapist.
You have to see it to believe it. LFCL is a brand new condo-styled residence for specialized care (nursing home) that is expected to redefine the industry. Two of the condominium residences (10 people each) are dedicated to young adults with severe physical disabilities, ALS and MS. These residents are mentally sharp but are in different stages of total paralysis including some on a ventilator and some with no ability to speak. The new facility will be fully automated allowing the residents freedom and mobility within the building.
The qualified candidate will plan and organize events and activities for these 20 residents. The job will include driving an accessible minivan. You will have a volunteer staff. It is a full-time, 40 hrs/wk position that will require a very flexible schedule. Normal hours will span afternoons and evenings and will likely include a couple of weekends/mo. Activities might include concerts, sporting events, theater, trips to the park, or stay-at-home activities such as BBQs or poker night. The candidate must be highly imaginative, resourceful, patient, and comfortable being with alert people with physical disabilities and being their advocate.
