Position Description:

PROGRAM/DEPT: PYRAMID – (A community-based rehabilitation program for adults with physical handicaps and developmental delays. Focus is on skill-building, communication skills and community integration) SCHEDULE: 8-10 HOURS PER WEEK PAY SCALE: Commensurate with Experience

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY • Actively licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant. • At least six months of experience working with people who have mental retardation; one year is preferred. (Will consider internship experience with college degree in a relevant field OR two years of human service experience). • Valid driver’s license, good driving record and own vehicle required. • Demonstrate respect for the rights and abilities of people with disabilities and ability to work with a member empowerment philosophy. • Strong adaptability, sense of responsibility and initiative, problem-solving and teamwork skills. • Strong Computer Skills • Bi-Lingual in Spanish/English strongly encouraged. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Assist in developing a treatment plan outlining goals and areas to be addressed. 2) Administer treatment utilizing appropriate occupational therapy techniques. 3) Instruct assigned program staff to provide carryover treatment in accordance with assessment and goals. 4) Responsible for ensuring each assigned members’ occupational therapy objectives are being addressed. 5) Gather data and document each member’s progress in meeting objectives and present to Rehabilitation Coordinator prior to member ISP meeting or present at required meetings. 6) Actively participate on member’s interdisciplinary team. 7) Communicate frequently with Rehabilitation Coordinator on incidents and success of each member. 8) To assist the Program Manager in the screening of prospective participants as assigned. 9) To foster the growth of individuals by teaching and offering opportunities for choice, initiation and risk taking. 10) To treat individuals with respect and dignity and in an age and culturally appropriate manner. 11) To act as a role model and provide contextual training of staff in the integrated therapeutic model. 12) Maintain all OT documents and records in accordance with DPH regulations and standards; Assessments, Care Plans, Goals sheets, Progress Notes and Discharge summaries. 13) Study current trends and new developments in OT offering new ideas and practices. 14) Perform SEND COVER LETTER AND RESUME TO: Human Resources Unlimited 120 Maple Street, Suite 400 Attn: Human Resources Department Springfield, MA 01103 (413) 781-5359 FAX (413)746-3370 E-mail:
