Marketing & Promotions Asst.
The Springfield Armor, NBA Development League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, are seeking a full-time Marketing & Promotions Assistant for the 2012-13 season. This assistantship requires commitment to a program that runs from mid-October through the end of April and is for top recent college graduates seeking to gain valuable career experience in the sports and entertainment industry, while also building a portfolio. This position offers a monthly stipend of $1,000 per month for six months. Expected start date: October, 2012
•Create graphics for the video board, team website, splash pages, flyers, game program inserts and etc.
•Assist with the management of team social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SocialCam) and the implementation of team social media initiatives
•Prepare Game Sheets for the week’s upcoming games with arena set-up procedures, pre-game timelines, Fan Experience Programs (FEPs), and in-game schedule of promotions/entertainment
•Act as a liaison between the Springfield Armor Front Office and the game day entertainment staff that includes (but is not limited to): the staff of the MassMutual Center video room, the PA Announcer, the On-Court MC, Game Operations interns, MassMutual Center sound technicians and the Armorettes Dance Team
•Prepare the PA Script for every Armor home game. Responsible for determining the schedule of events on a given game day. Make sure that all sponsored video content; PA reads, theme night related content and etc. are incorporated into every game script
•Direct the in-game entertainment from the scorers’ table, giving the video and music crews their cues, as well as coordinating in-game promotions with the intern staff and on-court MC
•Meet weekly with the on-court MC in order to coordinate for all upcoming games
•Ensure that all necessary video board content (sponsored or otherwise) is received by the video crew in a timely manner and that all video content is compatible with the MassMutual Center video board. Also responsible for providing the video crew with blank DVDs to record special promotions and FEPs and getting those finished DVDs back to the appropriate party
•Work with the in-game DJ and intern staff to determine music playlists as well as to ensure that the DJ has all FEP-related music. Make sure all music is properly vetted prior to each game and manage music database
•Participate in weekly team promotional meetings throughout the season for the purpose of planning and executing theme nights and other game night entertainment
•Communicate with Account Executives and other Armor staff to execute FEPs and other client-related promotions in a professional and timely manner.
• Recent college graduate with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or related field
•Must have graphics experience, including Abode Creative Suite programs (PhotoShop, InDesign, etc)
•Experience with HTML highly desirable, but not required
•Work regular office hours (8:30-5:00), as well as all 24 Armor home games, including nights, weekends and holidays. Attendance at additional team events is also required
•Must be capable of working in a fast paced, high stress environment.
