Position Title:

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Description:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer implements sports medicine and athletic injury treatment and prevention programs for all Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute intercollegiate athletes. The prevention and care of athletic injuries is accomplished through emergency treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning and athletic counseling. This is accomplished in an educational setting with specific coordination through the team physicians and a broad encompassing campus and community based medical team.

Minimum Qualification* Bachelor's Degree athletic training or related health field * Certification by the National Athletics Trainers Association * At least one (1) year of experience as a certified athletic trainer in a position such as Graduate Assistant, Athletics Training Intern, or similar title.

Additional Required Qualifications * Preferred Qualifications * Masters degree in related field is preferred. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of an athletic training program. Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the prevention and management of injuries in student athletes. Ability to initiate, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to an athletic training program.. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Fitness level required to perform manual exercise, stretching and to carry heavy weight
