Position Description:

Career Development Center, Worcester Polytechnic Institute JOB DESCRIPTION: Working under the supervision of the Associate Director-Student Programs and Services, the Graduate Assistant will receive training and participate in the following activities: Walk-in sessions with students providing resume and cover letter critiques and answering quick questions related to our web-based employment system Job Finder One-on-one appointments with students around general career issues (i.e. resume writing, cover letter writing, summer internship or co-op job search) Market and present career related workshops and other events Assist with marketing of CDC programs and services Work with CDC team members on other special projects/programs (i.e. researching employers, career fairs, graduating class statistical report, etc.) Training on Symplicity, the WPI plan, WPI majors and student project work. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings, monthly student counseling meetings, and in-house professional development opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS: Enrolled in a graduate program, preferable Higher Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Personnel or Training and Development Experience advising or counseling students Strong oral and written communications skills Ability to work independently and take initiative Ability to work collaboratively with a team Maintain high level of professionalism Experience with marketing programs or events Ability to develop and deliver presentations & workshops Proficient in MS Office & Internet

This is a 20-hour per week position for 28 weeks (academic year). Hours are flexible and will include some evenings. An August 2013 start date is anticipated. An $8,000 stipend is offered for one academic year. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
