Sports Information Director

Position Description:

Job Description: Will assist the Sports Information Director in the functions of the Sports Information Office. The Athletic Department includes a professional staff of 20 full-time and 30 part-time coaches and administrators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee sports information functions pertaining to football to include press box management at home contests. Write and develop media relations materials and hometown releases for various teams as assigned by the Sports Information Director. Assist with promoting student athletes within the institution, at the conference-level, as well as regionally and nationally. Provide in-person sports information coverage for various teams as assigned by the Sports Information Director. Assist with photography, video, and special events as assigned. Help maintain the department web site and archives.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director or the Director of Athletics

Requirements: A Bachelor's degree with five years of increasing responsibilities in athletic administration or journalism are required. Master's degree is preferred. Excellent oral, written and computer skills are essential. Candidate must be committed to a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities and good citizenship both on and off the field.
