Position Description:

Cambridge, MA, United States O'Reilly Media is seeking a visionary product manager for our digital content toolchain. This position will help develop our product roadmap for innovative publishing technologies and ensure timely rollout with cross-functional communications and marketing messages. This position is based in Cambridge, MA and reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Work with business owners to define and manage the product roadmap, user experience, and launch plans -Develop rollout strategies for key user segments, such as authors, editors, and distribution clients -Work as a cross-functional lead with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to ensure a consistent and timely rollout according to the roadmap -Develop marketing message across key segments -Manage project milestones in our project tracking system -Create new product features and functions that create a compelling and innovative UI/UX -Communicate key metrics and project plans to stakeholders within O'Reilly -Track competitive trends in the general publishing and media industry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -Strong knowledge of and ability to develop and direct a large software project from inception to release -Knowledge of media, publishing, and related industries -Knowledge of emerging technologies, particularly in the publishing and multi-media industries -Excellent analytical, creative, and organizational skills -Strong written, oral, and presentation skills -Strong technical skills, particularly Rails and git -Ability to work cross-departmentally and with all levels of employees -Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in reshaping the future of text, video, and interactive content -Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and shift priorities frequently, with little notice and as necessary -Ability to think strategically and act quickly -Ability to work within tight deadlines to produce quick turnarounds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Four-year college degree in Business, Marketing, or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience -Demonstrable experience developing and launching software products -Demonstrable experience developing and directing a large software project from inception to release -3+ years experience in media, publishing, or related industries
