Position Description:

Smith College seeks a Residential Manager to provide supervision to high school precollege students in their summer campus houses, and ensure that camp policies are followed. Coordinate, and carry out activities and guiding campers in their afternoon, evening, and weekend activities while programs are in session. Supervise of Smith residential interns is also required. This is a six-week position, beginning June 23, 3013, and living on campus, in an assigned apartment, is mandatory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Activities and Development: Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of students in their houses. Communicate regularly with students and facilitate relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth. Follow state regulations pertaining to camp licensing, and actively develop and participate in student programming. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.

Student Supervision: Residential Mangers will live in the residence halls with the Summer at Smith students and be responsible for development, implementation and supervision of all residential activities. The goal of the residential program is to help students become acclimated to life in a college campus environment, and build strong relationships with peers. This is a full-time position. Most hours are in the evenings, weekends required. Monitor behavior and provide intervention when necessary, mediate conflicts.

Requirements Bachelor’s degree required. At least three years of experience working with high schools students, at least one year of living and working as a residential supervisor. Must also be at least 26 years of age due to Massachusetts law regarding camp regulations.
