Communications Manager, Career Development Center
The Career Development Center at Mount Holyoke College has a full-time temporary position available for a Communications Manager. This individual will support the department's communications, data and technology efforts and will report to the Associate Director, Experiential Learning.
Position Summary (Duties and Responsibilities):
Communications and Design:
Manage the Career Development Center's (CDC) iModules communication system, including the template design, editorial and posting schedule for daily and weekly campus-wide emails
Design promotional materials and reusable templates for the CDC, and other departments on occasion. Promotional methods include digital signage, LyonNet (the CDC's on-line resume, job search and recruiting system powered by Symplicity), Facebook, i-Modules email system, and print materials such as bulletin boards, handouts, posters and department publications
Manage the production of the CDC's weekly and monthly online newsletters, including some content that is written by CDC student Communications Assistants. Online newsletters include:
Weekly emails: CDC Events, Top Ten Jobs, Top Ten Internships, CDC Law; Bi-weekly publication: Spotlight on Student Employment which profiles students in various employment positions on and off campus; Monthly publication: a CDC component of the college-wide Parent Newsletter.
Maintain and update the CDC's department website, including working with department staff to elicit and coordinate content and improvements
Supervise and provide mentorship for six part-time student assistants who support communications and experiential learning. Including, one Marketing and Design Assistant who supports the design of online and print resources, two Experiential Learning Assistants who support data, communications and forms processing for internship programs, and two Communications Writers who provide content support for the online newsletters Top Ten Jobs and Top Ten Internships
Support department communications projects as needed, including mailings related to internship fellowships, handbooks and department resources for students, event-related design and signage, and copying materials for workshops and events
Contribute to the management and expansion of CDC's social media tools and grow student participation in online communities (Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, etc.)
Data and Technology:
Provide data and technical updates for the Career Development Center's 3 college (Smith, Amherst, Mount Holyoke) employer recruiting system powered by Symplicity
Manage student internship data related to the CDC's Internship Network, student internship reports and the tracking of student internship fellowship materials
Administer the upload of student data to multiple online career subscription services
Qualifications Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Excellent communications skills, particularly written and editorial. An interest and proficiency with design, including website (Drupal 7 preferred), HTML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and print communications. Strong organization and time management skills. Expertise with Mac's, PC's and Microsoft Office, with specific knowledge of Excel. Familiarity with Symplicity software and marketing and branding concepts is helpful, but not required.
