Asst. Garden Educator-Afterschool Program

Position Description:

School Sprouts Educational Gardensis hiring a part-time Assistant Garden Educator for our innovative garden after-school program at the Zanetti School in Springfield. The garden after-school program seeks to integrate curricular subject areas with garden activities to enhance academic performance, connect youth to the source of their food, and provide a fun and empowering enrichment opportunity. The position is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the afterschool hours of 4pm to 5:30pm beginning as soon as possible and concluding in early June. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with youth and have an interest in gardening and the environment. Responsibilities include being a positive role model, engaging youth in garden activities, and assisting the lead educator with garden-based lessons. Candidates must have reliable transportation to the program and be able to commit for the remainder of the school year. Rate of pay varies from $8 to $10 per hour depending on experience.
