Position Description:
| The Academic Counselor delivers personalized academic counseling support for upper level Doctor of Pharmacy students; collaborates with faculty to develop tutoring programs and course-specific learning services for students; meets with students in groups and individually; develops Academic Improvement Plans (AIP) for at risk students identified during the Academic Standing Process; collaborates with department faculty to provide direct student support through learning strategy sessions; maintains student records; works with faculty and Academic Resource Center staff in the development of workshops; maintains relationships with faculty to solicit input and feedback related to effectiveness in serving students. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
Required: A master's degree in Education, Psychology or Counseling with a strong background in a science discipline, such as microbiology, biochemistry or physiology; a minimum of two years' experience providing academic counseling and learning strategies to college students; knowledge of how students learn, manage time and use learning strategies or supplemental instruction; strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Desired: Experience working with college students on probation and students in science-based majors.
