12-Month Live-In Position T

he college seeks a live-in professional staff member whose primary responsibility is to facilitate campus programming, create community in the residence halls, and retain students. Create an environment where students will be safe, craft opportunities for students to connect and engage in the College community and support students in their efforts to be successful. Manage the day-to-day operation of a residential area, supervise and advise a staff of Resident Assistants, a variety of student groups, create and implement campus activities, and ensure the delivery of quality educational and social programming. Serve in the on-duty rotation and provide support to Resident Assistants and students during time of emergency, crisis or other needs for assistance. Have a focused area of specialty which could include Diversity, Social, Athletic or Leadership Programming as well as Operations and Judicial Affairs. This Area Coordinators specialty focus will be in athletic programs and should be a highly motivated and organized individual interested in scheduling, planning, executing, growing and reviewing all intramurals and athletic activities at the College. Additionally, serve as conduct officers and meet with students who have allegedly violated Champlain College policy and serve on a variety of committees that impact the direction of the Department of Residential Life.

A Bachelor's degree in related field or demonstrated experience and passion for working with college students in a professional capacity is required. Experience working in college residence halls, the ability to work frequent evening and weekend hours, excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and crisis management skills, are all essential for success. Experience planning events, working with diverse populations, and a background working in higher education are preferred, as is a Master's degree in a related field. The successful candidate will be able to help build intercultural understanding and demonstrate multicultural perspectives that can foster a diverse and inclusive community. Candidates must have a professional and positive attitude towards their work, the mission of the institution, and the goals of the college. Adaptability, continuous learning, strong critical judgment, a commitment to diversity and teamwork, and providing quality services are some of the staff competencies required for success at Champlain College.
