Position Title:

Athletic Trainer


Position Description:

This 10-month position, August through May, is responsible for the development and implementation for the care and prevention of athletic injuries. Provide or coordinate sports medicine coverage for athletic contests and practices. Assist in the promotion of health and physical well-being of Athletic Program participants with regard to first aid treatment, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. Provide treatment and rehabilitation for student athletes. Advise coaching staff of sports as to daily medical status of injured players. Position is ultimately responsible for, upon a physician's advice, determining the athlete's ability to return to participation. Supervise part-time and/or per diem athletic trainer(s). Administer pre-season pre-participation physical exam process; coordinate with Bay Path College Health Center and team doctor. In conjunction with Athletic Director, revise appropriate handbooks and emergency protocols. Maintain detailed records for all intercollegiate sports injuries. Provide necessary programming on student-welfare and drug and alcohol programs. Assist students with insurance claims as necessary. Manage departmental operating budget.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in relevant field, Master's degree preferred. Candidates must have working knowledge of NCAA, NECC rules. Applicants must be certified in athletic training by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), licensed or eligible for licensing as Athletic Trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and have current CPR certification. Driver's license preferred but not mandatory. Excellent interpersonal skills along with ability to work independently analyze situations and develop solutions. Must be available to travel and work non-traditional hours.
