Position Title:

Mental Health Counselor

Position Description:

Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee, participates as a member of the mental health team on an inpatient Mental Health Unit.  Provides direct patient care including treatment planning, implementing plans, evaluating treatment, discharge planning and the maintenance of a safe unit.

Qualifications BA/BS in related field highly preferred or related experience in health field required.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other team members and with inpatient psychiatric population and to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations.  Demonstrates an ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress.  Ability to work in a team setting and group situations.  Must be able to assist in physical restraints if necessary.
