About the position
Immediate opening for Client Directed, Direct Support Staff. The candidate will provide guidance and support to an individual living with family members to participate in the community and meet self-determined goals. This position will professionally support an individual working toward independence with activities of daily living, daily coping and life skills. Job duties will also include transportation, assistance at a volunteer or job site and supporting individual’s participation in areas of interest in the community.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years experience in the field of developmental services and/or completion of the College of Direct Support is preferred. The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and provide timely and accurate documentation is also required.
Family Directed Services supports adult clients and their loved ones to develop and manage their own services. Families work collaboratively with The Moore Center to best meet the needs of the individual while maintaining the requirements of the federal guidelines.
This current opening is in the greater Manchester area.
This is a part-time position. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 3:00pm – 7:00pm.
Essential skills and responsibilities may include:
•Support individual to complete activities of daily living
•Support individual with developmental and intellectual disabilities in community activities
•Communicate, teach and model socially appropriate behavior
•Transport client
•Provide crisis intervention and redirection
•Record documentation; strong written communication skills
•Consistent contact with Case Manager regarding program activities
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
•High school degree or equivalent
•Fluency in American Sign Language
•Prior experience working for individuals with developmental disabilities
•Ability to work together with client to complete organizational tasks
•Ability to carry out individual service goals and communication goals
•Criminal, motor vehicle, and Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services background checks that meet agency standards
•Provide adequate transportation for clients, which includes having access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license and maintaining personal auto insurance of $100,000/300,000
•Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently; regular documentation is required
Ideal Qualifications:
•College of Direct Support certificate
•Comfort using basic technologies such as desktop computers and Microsoft Office
•Proven ability to adapt to changing environments, from emotionally charged situations to highly structured professional settings
