Position Description:

Responsibilities: Teach 5 periods; prepare one period Attend and participate in weekly collaborative planning time and team, grade level, department and faculty meetings Attend and participate in IEP meetings, as needed Prepare and review course expectations and standards Prepare classroom materials and curricula Assess student work and provide timely and specific feedback to students Review and approve portfolio work of students Facilitate advisory group; act as liaison between and among student, school, home Supervise lunch and/or club activity, Friday choice time, and all-school “theme” days Contact parents early and often to provide updates on student progress Provide feedback through required grade/narrative reports; complete and submit reports by prescribed due date Meet for supervision when scheduled Help plan and facilitate Paideia program Help plan and facilitate group trips/events/activities during school hours Facilitate testing when scheduled during school hours Review fire and safety standards during the first class of each semester Adhere to all policies in the Staff Handbook and Student/Parent Handbook With supervisor, establish and review annual professional learning goals for the school year, as part of evaluation process Attend to professional development; prepare and annually review a professional development plan; maintain and renew current certification Participate in all professional development activities, curriculum days, parent/teacher conferences Arrive at school 30 minutes before the start of first scheduled class Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree Eligible for Highly Qualified Teacher status Acceptable CORI check Preferred Requirements: Two years of teaching experience Massachusetts certification in subject area APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS To be considered a complete application, please submit the following: A written response to the following: At PVPA, we work to provide all students with an education that enables them to be contributing members of a multiethnic, multicultural society.
