Campus Police Officer I

Position Description:

Part time position. Westfield State University. The department of Public Safety seeks applicants for a part-time Campus Police Officer. Patrols campus buildings and groups; investigates crimes and other incidents; restrains and/or arrests suspects when necessary; provides assistance to courts in prosecution of cases; performs related work as required. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Must be able to obtain Special State Police powers from the Massachusetts State Police without additional training; must be able to obtain a firearms permit from the police department where the applicant resides; must be able to, on an annual basis, qualify with the department firearm through a department certified firearms instructor. Must have a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate must also pass the following one-time examinations: fit-for-duty medical and psychological examinations in addition to an agility test.
