Coordinator - Hunger Study

Position Description:

Status: 30 hrs, non-exempt, temporary

JOB DESCRIPTION: Oversee the Hunger in America 2014 study for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts by training interviewers, coordinating the collection of client data, and serving as the liaison between The Food Bank and the research firm Westat.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Training Use materials and training protocols provided by Feeding America and the research firm to develop and implement trainings for volunteer interviewers Provide ongoing training and support to volunteer interviewers to ensure quality data collection Data Collection Ensure the effective marketing of the Hunger Study to agencies and encourage 100% participation Coordinate client survey data collection, including informing Network Capacity Coordinators and advising agencies of scheduled visits Volunteer Management Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and schedule volunteers Coordinate teams of volunteers to ensure coverage of each scheduled agency visit Communications Ensure that other Food Bank staff are kept up-to-date on relevant information about the Hunger Study Communicate regularly with Westat and Feeding America as necessary Administrative Ensure timely submission of all client data to Westat Trouble-shoot user issues with electronic data collection tools Other duties as assigned by supervisor

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Excellent project management and organizational ability Experience training and managing volunteers Professional and positive attitude Ability to work under minimal supervision Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong data entry, database management and database reporting skills Strong skills in Microsoft office applications, with a special emphasis on Excel Access to a reliable automobile, clean driving history and ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire Counties Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some early morning, evening, and weekend hours Experience working effectively in a variety of cultures and communities OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS (EXPERIENCE A PLUS)

Bilingual in English and Spanish Non-profit or human services experience Experience in food pantries or meal sites Experience working with or interviewing clients in a social service setting Report to: Director of Programs
