Position Description:
| The Hampden County Correctional Center’s Forensic Mental Health Services program is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Clinician. The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for creating individualized service plans and the development and facilitation of educational and treatment groups. The Mental Health Clinician conducts mental health assessments; establishes and maintains a mental health counseling relationship with inmate/pre-trial detainees; assesses and analyzes pertinent information for the purpose of developing individualized mental health needs which address client, institutional, and community concerns; maintains relevant information and submits reports as required.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling rehabilitation, or related human service field preferred; or a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with equivalent experience required. Strong mental health clinical assessment/intake skills, ability to make appropriate treatment and safety referrals. Solid knowledge of clinical theories and ability to utilize this knowledge in all phases of clinical practice. Ability to facilitate individual and group treatment, and psycho-educational classes/groups, and develop all relevant lesson plans. Ability to communicate with program participants, program staff, and other criminal justice and treatment professionals in a clear, direct, and respectful manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare effective, concise, and accurate written reports.
English /Spanish Bilingual skills desired. Full medical and dental benefits. Forty (40) hours per week.
