Wheelock Holds Off Men's Basketball, 61-56, In UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

North Dartmouth, Mass. - November 20, 2009 - Despite 12 points, eight rebounds, and seven blocks from sophomore Ryan Coburn, the Springfield College men's basketball team could not rally to victory as it dropped a 61-56 decision to Wheelock in the opening game of the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Friday evening. Burrell and Carlson Named New England Football Writers Division II/III All-Stars

Boston, Mass. - November 20, 2009 - Jarred Burrell and John Carlson were among 31 players representing 20 different teams who have been named to the 2009 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team. Football Lands Seven on Empire 8 All-Conference Team

Rochester, N.Y. - November 19, 2009 - The Springfield College football team had seven players selected to the 2009 Empire 8 Football All-Conference team after standout regular seasons. Free safety Jarred Burrell and DE Cody Flanigan were named to the first team, while FB Baldwin Cunningham, ILB Ken Goodwin, and OT Sean Meagher earned second team honors. QB Josh Carter was named Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year for his Springfield team, while OT John Carlson earned honorable mention honors. Read more.

Blackmon Powers Men's Basketball Past Salem State, 74-63

Lively Named AVCA Division III Honorable Mention All-America

Lexington, Ky. - November 17, 2009 - For the second-straight year, Heather Lively was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-America selection. The junior outside hitter helped lead Springfield to a 27-7 record in the 2009 campaign. Read more.

Football to Host ECAC Division III Northeast Bowl Championship Game Saturday Versus Plymouth State

Springfield, Mass. -- November 16, 2009 -- Head coach Mike DeLong and his Springfield College football team (7-2) will host Plymouth State University (8-2) this Saturday, Nov. 21 at noon in the ECAC Northeast Bowl Championship Game at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field.
