Richard Davila

Ph.D., Special Education, University of Connecticut, School of Education Psychology, Storrs, CT. Campus Director, SHS Tampa. Responsible for overseeing the International programs in Brazil and Sweden since 1997. For the past several years has taught leadership courses to YMCA Secretaries General, from different countries in South America at the program school in Sorocaba, Brazil. He has presented papers at numerous national and international professional conferences in the fields of Human Services and Adult Education. Over 25 years experience encompassing higher education, social work and substance abuse counseling. President of Connecticut Hispanic Addiction Commission . Involved in various federal state, local board and task force memberships since 1970.


Carmine Pecoraro

Doctorate Degree in Psychology and Master's of Science Degree in Psychology from the Miami Institute of Psychology, with a concentration in Psychology and Neuropsychology, Master's of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. He is currently certified as an Addictions Professional in the state of Florida, he is a certified Addictionologist and an internationally certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Participates in private practice and contract work as a professional trainer/consultant. He is presently involved in various workshops and seminars nationally and internationally. He is current co-host of the television show Global Health Watch (1.2 million viewers).

Jeanette "JT" Taft

Ph.D. in Business Administration, Touro University International, BS, MS Hunter College, New York; MBA Pepperdine University, California; Management Fellowship, New York University. Assistant Professor at SHS. President of Taft Management Services, an international Consulting and Training Company, providing leadership expertise for businesses, universities, and non-profit organizations in the USA and Latin America. Has also taught management seminars for YMCA leaders in Soracaba, Brazil and the Masters program in Sweden. Featured in the Best of America for an innovative employee compensation program; the Top 10 Business People award; the Outstanding Woman in Business Award; Woman of Achievement feature in the St. Petersburg Times; and feature article in the “Upscale” section of the Tampa Tribune. She has also been cited in the Tampa Bay Business Journal for her consulting practice; has written articles for, and has been quoted extensively in the Medical Business Journal (Gulf Coast Edition).


Gerald Thomas

DBA, University of Sarasota, April 2000. M. Ed., Student Personnel in Higher Education, University of Georgia, 1994. Assistant Professor at SHS. Served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. Awarded Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. He has organized and coordinated first “Jump Start Your Career” conference, designed to help seniors in job search, resume writing and cover letters, and interview skills. Most recent publication “Performance Appraisals and Leaderless Supervision,” Human Resource Development Quarterly.


Margaret Watts

Ph.D. Union Institute. M.A. Teachers College, Columbia University. Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Writing Across the Curriculum program at SHS Tampa. Dr. Watts taught Teacher Education---English Curriculum at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad for 16 years. She also served as an adjunct, lecturer and tutor at several schools in Ghana; as visiting professor at SUNY Fredonia; and as program director of the Overseas & American Students International Society at New York University.

SHS employs full-time faculty who are responsible for teaching, service, and scholarship. The SHS practice-oriented curriculum also includes contributions from part-time faculty who are directly involved in agency and community work. The result is that SHS has a faculty with the flexibility, resources and expertise required to address academics as well as new developments in human services practice and delivery.
