Manhattan Virtual Classroom

Participation in SHS weekend programs means your classes will only meet once a month. Many SHS instructors incorporate the Manhattan Virtual Classroom into the curriculum to enhance academic dialogue and communication when classes are not in session.

To enter your Manhattan Virtual Classroom, you must first access the Springfield College website from any computer that has Internet access. This means you can access Manhattan from home, the library or a friend's house. It only takes a few clicks, and you are in your Manhattan classroom.

You will need your nine digit Springfield College ID number to access your Manhattan account.

Your username will never change as long as you keep the same last name.

Your username = your initials in lower case + the last four digits of your SC ID number before the dash.

For example, Jane Doe with ID number 000126789-1, would have a username that looks like:
jd6789

It is wise to use all Manhattan Virtual Classroom (MVC) handouts for successful participation in your Manhattan course. You can secure the MVC handouts on this page at the top right under Manhattan Handouts. They are in .pdf format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat installed on your personal computer to access the handouts.

  • Click here to download the Adobe Reader software for free: Adobe Reader
If you still feel you need assistance after reviewing the Manhattan handouts, access the online Student Guide Version 2 of the Manhattan Virtual Classroom for basic navigational help. The tutorial is located under the "Tutorials and Documentation" section.

You don’t need an E-mail address for Manhattan!

A Post Office module exists in Manhattan and works just like E-mail. Once you access your Manhattan class successfully you will be able to:
  • send E-mail to your instructor or fellow classmates
  • retrieve class assignments
  • attach completed work to modules
  • send completed coursework to instructors
  • participate in class discussions
  • link to resourceful websites
  • participate in chat discussions with colleagues

Technical Help

A Manhattan Troubleshooting Tips handout is posted above to assist you. If you encounter technical problems that you cannot resolve, first contact your SHS instructor. If you are unable to reach your instructor and your problem is rather urgent, then contact the SHS Tech Help contact person at your campus.
