Borrowing
Eligible borrowers with proper ID can charge out library materials at the Information Desk on the first floor of the library. Please return all items to the Information Desk or, if the library is closed, to the book drop located by the library's front door.Loan Periods
Please note that the due date for all items will be printed on the receipt issued when items are charged out.| Type of material | Loan period | Renewals |

These loan periods also apply to School of Human Services faculty, students, and staff at the regional campuses. Please see our Distance Services page for more information.
Renewing Items
You can use your computer to renew your library items as long as they are not overdue. Please follow these steps:- Go to Voyager, the library online catalog
- Click on the My Account button
- Type your 9 digit Springfield College ID number in the first box
- Type your last name in the second box
- Click the Login button
- Scroll down to the Charged Items section
- Check off the books you want to renew
- Click the Renew Items button
If your renewal was successful, the word Renewed and the new due date will appear in the "Status" section of your account.
What if I get a not renewed message instead?
Fines
The library does not charge fines for overdue materials.Borrowers will, however, be responsible for paying the replacement costs for items that are not returned. Please refer to our Lost/Billed Items page for more information these charges, how to get credit for lost items that are returned, and examples of situations when replacement costs will be waiver.
Does the Library send out overdue notices?
Holds
If something you need is charged out to another person, you can place a hold on it. Please follow these steps for placing a hold:- Go to Voyager, the library online catalog
- Find the item in Voyager and click on its title to open the record
- Click on the Requests button
- Type your 9 digit Springfield College ID number in the first box
- Type your last name in the second box
- Click the Login button
- Select Hold from the pull down menu
- Click the OK button
- Type your 9 Digit Springfield College ID number in the SC ID Number box
- Click the Submit Request button
When the item is returned, we will notify you and keep it on hold at the Information Desk for 7 days. Please remember to log out of you account when you are finished.
Patrons at the regional campuses: Please follow the normal procedures for requesting materials. If the item you need is charged to another patron, we will attempt to obtain it for you through other channels.
